Applications

Yttrium(III) oxide (Y₂O₃) nanoparticles are used to make phosphors for color television tubes, yttrium iron garnets for use as microwave filters, high temperature superconductors and gas lighting. Another major use of the Y₂O₃ nanoparticles is in inorganic synthesis. They are also used as additives in the coatings used in high-temperature applications, paints and plastics for guarding against UV degradation and also in making permanent magnets.
