How Do You Choose A Silicon Wafer?

When evaluating silicon wafers, there are several vital factors to consider:

  • Diameter - Getting the right size wafer is key, and our silicon wafers range from 10 to 300 millimeters in diameter.
  • Thickness - Silicon wafers must be thick enough to maintain structural integrity throughout manufacturing and product use.
  • Type & Dopant - Depending on your application, you may need undoped silicon wafers or wafers doped with a specific dopant such as Boron or Phosphorus.
  • Surface Finish - The right surface finish, either polished to a mirror finish or etched, impacts electron mobility and device degradation.
  • Resistivity - Silicon wafers with the appropriate resistivity for your application are critical to the device’s performance.

N-Type (P-doped) Silicon Wafers

High-performance, energy-efficient N-type P-doped silicon wafers are highly doped with Phosphorus at 1 ohm / cm2 and widely used in solar cells.

  • Diameter: 100 mm +/- 0.5 mm
  • Thickness: 525 um +/- 20 um (SSP)
  • Type / Dopant: N / Phosphorus
  • Front Surface: CMP Polished, Ra < 0.5 nm (single side polished, SSP)
  • Electrical Resistivity: 1-10 ohm-cm

P-Type (B-doped) Silicon Wafers

P-type B-doped silicon wafers are highly doped with Boron, essential for high-performance, energy-efficient applications like solar cells.

  • Diameter: 100 mm +/- 0.5 mm and 10 x 10 x 0.5 mm

  • Type / Dopant: P/ Boron
