    Applications

Lanthanum Fluoride (LaF3) is a white rare earth salt. It is used as dopant in fluoride selective electrodes. It is one of very few high-index materials in the far UV and thus is used as the "high-index" component in multilayer optical elements such as ultraviolet dichroic and narrowband mirrors. It is also a component of multimetal fluoride glasses such as ZBLAN.
