    Ytterbium Nitrate Pentahydrate (Yb(NO3)3 · 5H2O) is a colorless rare earth salt. It is a source material to make ytterbium metal and other ytterbium compounds. It is used as a component for the production of ceramics and glass. It is also used for nanoscale coatings of carbon composites.
