Cadmium Zinc Telluride (CdZnTe/CZT) wafer is a direct bandgap semiconductor material with excellent electrical properties, high absorption coefficient and great thermal expansion. It also enables the conversion of radiation to electron effectively. It is often used as the substrate for the epitaxial of HgCdTe (MCT) due to similar lattice constant to HgCdTe (MCT). Additionally, the MCT epitaxial layer is transparent to infrared wavelengths, which makes it one of the best materials for the infrared devices. It is often used in various detectors, solar cells, and terahertz generation.
