Tin Oxide (SnO2) is a colorless, diamagnetic, amphoteric solid. It has been used as pigment in the manufacture of glasses, enamels and ceramic glazes. It can also be used as a polishing powder. Pure Tin Oxide thin layers can be used for gas sensing. Tin Oxide thin layers doped with cobalt and manganese can be used in high voltage varistors. Thicker layers doped with Sb or F ions are electrically conducting and used in electroluminescent devices and photovoltaics.
