MSE Supplies offers Automatic Mounting Presses ECOPRESS 102/202 from Metkon Instrument Inc. After cutting the specimen the next step is mounting. The purpose of mounting is to handle small or odd-shaped specimens, provide good edge retention and protect fragile materials, thin layers, or coatings during preparation. Mounting produces specimens with uniform size makes it easier to handle in automatic holders for further preparation steps. Metallographic specimens are typically "mounted" using a hot compression thermosetting resin. A typical mounting cycle will compress the specimen and mounting media and heat to a temperature. ECOPRESS 102/202 are high capacity, state of the art automatic mounting presses having advanced software with programmable colored HMI touch screen controls. Robust bayonet closure allows for quick and safe operation. Two mounts can be produced simultaneously with the use of an intermediate ram by ECOPRESS 102. ECOPRESS 202, available with dual cylinder, can produce four mounts at a time offering a perfect solution for labs with high specimen throughput.
