Aluminum is one of the most widely used metals. It is light weight, a good conductor of heat and electricity, and has high reflectivity. It is often used for reflective optical components in telescopes, headlamps and LEDs. A thin surface layer of oxide forms at the air interface of the aluminum film, which protects the metal against corrosion.
In research and development, aluminum thin films find use in the following applications:
- Synthesis of Nanoporous aluminum oxide via anodization
- Aluminum oxide nanopores for bio sensors
- Plasmonic devices
- Reflective coatings
- Patterned surface electrodes (finger-type, interdigitated)
Features of our coating process include:
- Aluminum purity: 99.999%
- Electron-beam deposition
- Low deposition rate -> High quality film
- Pre-cleaned substrates (plasma or base bath)
- Titanium adhesion layer (optional)
- Dedicated cleanroom fabrication environment
