Ball Mill Production of Corundum Ceramic Nanoparticles
Posted by MSE Supplies Admin on
Scientists at the Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung in Mülheim an der Ruhr have created a method to economically produce corundum ceramic nanoparticles, one that centers around a key piece of materials science laboratory equipment: the ball mill. Corundum (also known as alpha-alumina) ceramic nanoparticles are useful in a wide variety of applications because of their hardness, which is comparable to diamond’s, and their high resistance to both heat and chemicals. Based on these properties, corundum is used for cutting tools, for ceramic implants in biological prostheses, and for general catalysis. Corundum’s nanoparticle form could even become an essential ingredient in the...

The effect of grinding media performance on milling and operational behavior
Posted by MSE Supplies on
MSE Supplies provides a broad range of products for ball milling of powders. http://www.msesupplies.com/collections/powder-processing ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The effect of grinding media performance on milling and operational behavior by U. Weber* and D. Langlois* Abstract: The effect of grinding media performance on milling and operational behavior was demonstrated under different selected conditions of calcium carbonate slurry milling. A variety of grinding media materials and bead sizes, along with two different stirrer tip speeds, were used in the grinding process to generate a particle size reduction of the calcium carbonate (CaCO3). To determine the optimum milling parameters the collected test data were used...
