Background
Most phosphorylation occurs on serine and threonine, with less than 1% on tyrosine. Tyrosine phosphorylation is involved in regulating a variety of cellular processes. In particular, protein tyrosine phosphorylation is important for signaling pathways that control cell growth, differentiation, metabolism, and immune responses. It plays a crucial role in the activation of receptor tyrosine kinases and downstream signaling cascades such as the MAPK and PI3K/AKT pathways. Dysregulation of tyrosine phosphorylation is often associated with diseases such as cancer, making it a key focus of research and therapeutic intervention.
