CX stainless steel (also commonly known as 13-8PH) is a grade of martensitic precipitation hardened stainless steel. It is a high-performance powder that offers unique properties and advantages for 3D printing applications. The name comes from the chemical makeup which is approximately 13% chromium and 8% nickel. It provides high strength, good ductility, and fatigue resistance, allowing for the production of robust and durable parts. This makes it suitable for applications that require components to withstand extreme operating conditions and structural loads such as in mold domain. 

By utilizing CX powder in AM processes, manufacturers can leverage its unique properties to create complex, light weight, and customized metal parts with outstanding corrosion resistance. This opens up new possibilities for design innovation and optimization, enabling the production of parts that may otherwise be impractical or economically unviable using traditional manufacturing methods.

Applications:

Powder can be used in laser/electron beam additive manufacturing (SLM/EBM), powder metallurgy (PM), spraying and other processes. Iron-based metal powder is widely used in 3D printing thin-walled devices and complex parts, hot and cold spraying, laser cladding, and biomedical fields.

Applicable Equipment: 

Powder can be used in various types of metal 3D printers, including Renishaw from the UK, EOS (EOSINT M series) from Germany, Concept Laser, 3D systems from the United States and many other laser melting equipment.
