4,6-Bis(3,5-di(pyridin-3-yl)phenyl)-2-methylpyrimidine (B3PymPm) is a widely used electron-transporting or hole-blocking layer material due to its 2-methylpyrimidine core structure. The anisotropy of B3PymPm induces the ordered orientation of the molecules, leading to the enhancement of the carrier mobility. What's more, the molecular stacking induced by the intermolecular hydrogen bonds also contributes to the high carrier mobility in the film. Comparing to its isomer B4PymPm, there is a trade-off effect between the anisotropy effect and the hydrogen bond effect and thus they are chosen at different condition. It is widely used in OLEDs and photovoltaics, including perovskite solar cells.
