Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) based on organic–inorganic metal halide have been rapidly developed in recent years. The technology progress enables a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of PSCs to exceed 22%, which is way beyond that of traditional solar cells and thus are considered the future of next generation solar cells.

Poly[bis(4-phenyl)(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)amine], PTAA, is an excellent hole-transporting and electron-blocking material for perovskite solar cells owing to its hole-rich components. Recently, PTAA has been developed as a hole transport layer (HTL), considering its matched highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) energy level (5.2 eV) with the valence band maximum (VBM) of perovskites. Comparing to spiro-OMeTAD (2,2′,7,7′-Tetrakis[N,N-di(4-methoxyphenyl)amino]-9,9′-spiro-bifluorene), which is the most widely used hole transport materials, PTAA-based devices have much lower thermal degradation rate than spiro-OMeTAD-based devices thus it has been gaining more attention.
