MSE PRO™ Water-Soluble Red Fluorescence Carbon Quantum Dot Powder/Dispersion

The MSE PRO Carbon quantum dots (CQDs) are quasi-spherical amorphous carbon nanocrystals composed of sp² and sp³ carbon clusters. They are surrounded by abundant oxygen-containing functional groups, such as hydroxyl, carbonyl, and carboxyl groups. The primary elemental composition of CQDs includes carbon (C), hydrogen (H), oxygen (O), and nitrogen (N). The photoluminescence mechanism of CQDs mainly stems from three effects: the quantum confinement effect, surface state emission, and molecular state emission. CQDs consist of a core structure rich in C=C and C–C bonds that readily undergo π→π* transitions, along with various heteroatom-containing organic functional groups on the surface that facilitate n→π* transitions.

The preparation methods of carbon quantum dots are generally divided into top-down and bottom-up approaches. The top-down method involves breaking down larger carbon structures into smaller units through physical or chemical means, such as arc discharge, laser ablation, ultrasonic treatment, and chemical oxidation. In contrast, the bottom-up method assembles small molecular precursors into larger CQD structures through chemical reactions. Common bottom-up techniques include hydrothermal/solvothermal synthesis, template methods, microwave-assisted synthesis, and solid-phase synthesis.

MSE Supplies offers a variety of quantum dots (QDs) products, include graphene oxide QDs, graphene QDs, sulfur QDs, carbon QDs, silicon QDs, etc. We can also provide liquid form quantum dots. Please contact us for more information.

Please inspect the fluorescence upon arrival. MSE Supplies will not be responsible for the performance degradation after 1 week of delivery.
