Introduction

MSE_SDS_Sheet

Flexible Leather Anti-Fouling Nano-Protective Coating is a single-component, long-lasting nano-flexible silicone coating specially developed for deep protection of natural and synthetic leather surfaces.

Based on advanced Sol-Gel nanotechnology, the product combines three key systems: modified silane nano-polymers, nano silica sol, and specialty polyurethane prepolymers. It forms an ultra-thin (approximately 3 μm), transparent, fully breathable nano-scale protective barrier on the leather surface at the molecular level.

Unlike traditional leather care products that rely on waxes or oils to create a surface film, this coating chemically bonds with leather fibers, achieving an adhesion rating of ≤ Grade 1 and fundamentally reconstructing the physical and chemical properties of the leather surface. After curing, the coating provides both hydrophobic and oleophobic protection, preventing liquids, oils, ballpoint pen ink, marker stains, and other contaminants from penetrating leather fibers. Most contaminants can be removed with a simple wipe.

The most significant technological breakthrough of this product lies in the perfect combination of industrial-grade nano-protection with the flexibility and breathability required for leather materials. Modified with specialty polyurethane prepolymers, the cured coating remains soft and flexible, resisting cracking and peeling even under repeated bending and stretching. With a film thickness of only about 3 μm, it preserves the original appearance, texture, and feel of the leather, providing high-level protection without compromising user experience.

Under normal use conditions, the protective effect can last for 4–5 years. Once performance gradually diminishes, the coating can be reapplied following the original application procedure without specialized equipment. The low-odor, environmentally friendly formulation complies with indoor furniture and automotive interior safety standards and is safe for both people and the environment.

The product is widely used in furniture, automotive interiors, fashion accessories, commercial spaces, aviation, marine applications, and other premium leather environments.

Key Advantages

1. Oil-Based Ink Stain Resistance

  • Ultra-low surface energy layer prevents ink penetration into leather fibers

  • Ballpoint pen ink: Easily removable without staining

  • Permanent marker ink: Remains on surface and can be wiped away

  • Water-based ink and daily stains: Easy to clean

2. Dual Hydrophobic & Oleophobic Protection

  • Repels water, preventing absorption, discoloration, wrinkles, and mold growth

  • Repels oils, body oils, lotions, cosmetics, and cooking oils

  • Reduces cleaning frequency and maintenance costs

3. Superior Flexibility

  • Flexible polyurethane structure moves with leather deformation

  • No cracking or peeling under bending angles >90°

  • Suitable for bags, apparel, furniture, and automotive seating

4. Long-Lasting Protection

  • Protection lifespan: 3–5 years under normal conditions

  • Can be reapplied after performance decreases

  • Reduces maintenance frequency and costs

5. UV Protection & Non-Yellowing

  • Reduces UV fading and oxidation

  • Maintains long-term transparency

  • Ideal for automotive, marine, aviation, and sun-exposed furniture

6. Preserves Original Leather Appearance

  • Transparent ultra-thin coating

  • Maintains original color, gloss, texture, and feel

  • Breathable coating preserves leather properties

7. Environmentally Friendly & Safe

  • Low-odor formulation

  • No harmful emissions after curing

  • Suitable for indoor furniture and automotive interiors

8. Easy Application & Reapplication

  • Simple process: Clean → Apply → Cure

  • Manual application with microfiber cloth

  • No spray equipment, UV lamps, or special tools required

  • Easy reapplication using the same procedure

Application Guides

Surface Preparation

  • Ensure the leather surface is clean and dry.
  • Remove dust, grease, wax, and previous care products.
  • Recommended application temperature: 15–35°C.
  • Avoid direct sunlight during application.
Step 1 – Surface Cleaning

Clean the leather thoroughly using a leather cleaner or neutral detergent and a microfiber cloth. Remove all dirt, oil, dust, and residues. Allow the surface to dry completely before coating.

Step 2 – Coating Application

Apply a small amount of product to a microfiber cloth and spread evenly across the leather surface using overlapping horizontal and vertical strokes. Apply 2–3 coats continuously without waiting between coats.

For industrial applications, HVLP spray equipment may be used.

Step 3 – Curing

Allow the coated leather to dry naturally in a ventilated indoor environment.

  • Tack-free time: approximately 3–4 hours
  • Full cure: 24 hours

Avoid water exposure, aggressive cleaning, and mechanical impact during curing.

Important Notes:

This product cures by moisture reaction. Moisture must be prevented from entering the container during use. Always tighten the cap immediately after use. Failure to do so may cause premature curing inside the container and render the product unusable.

  • Remove accidental overspray immediately with a clean microfiber cloth.
  • Conduct a small-area test before full application.
  • Disposable gloves are recommended.
  • Do not add solvents or other materials
