Background
CD44 is a member of cell adhesion molecule family (CAMs) that mediates cell and extracellular matrix. It is expressed on the cell surface and interacts with cytoskeleton protein. It is mainly expressed on the surface of myoepithelial basement membrane of some acini and ducts. CD44 (HCAM), which is widely expressed in hematopoietic cells and mesodermal cells, is a marker of these cells.
