Background
BCL-6 is a proto-oncogene encoding the 95kDa Kruppel type zinc finger protein, which is homologous to other transcription factors. BCL-6 is expressed in normal follicular germinal center B cells and other associated lymphomas. BCL-6 expression can be detected in follicular lymphoma, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, Burkitt lymphoma, and nodular lymphocyte-dominated Hodgkin's lymphoma. Positive expression of BCL-6 can be detected when splenic marginal band lymphomas transform into diffuse large B-cell lymphomas, and positive expression can also be detected in vascular immunoblastic T-cell lymphomas. In addition, it should be noted that many normal T cells also express BCL-6.
