Calcium channel blocker
Functions
Lomerizine is a clinically useful calcium channel blocker (L and T-type). It is used for the treatment of migraine headaches, however its antimigraine effects are believed to be due to its 5HT2A antagonistic effects. Lomerizine also displays anti-glaucoma effects via an increase in ocular circulation and protection of neuronal cells against retinal neurotoxicity with minimal cardiovascular effects. Lomerizine has also shown various other neuroprotective properties.
Application Procedures
First dissolved in DMSO (> 45 mg/ml) or in Ethanol (up to 30 mg/mL), then diluted to aqueous buffer. Solutions in DMSO or ethanol may be stored at -20°C for up to 1 month.
