Quinone antioxidant & free radical scavenger
Functions
Analog of coenzyme Q10 which acts as an antioxidant. Protects mitochondrial membranes against lipid peroxidation and blocks glutamate neurotoxicity in vitro and in vivo. Increases NGF production with no effect on reactive oxygen species in a cultured rat astrocyte reperfusion injury model. Extends lifespan and improves motor function in HtrA2 knockout mice.
Application Procedures
First dissolved in DMSO (up to 25 mg/ml), then diluted to aqueous buffer. Solutions in DMSO may be stored at -20°C for up to 3 months.
