COMT inhibitor; Anti-Parkinsons
Functions
Potent catechol O-methyltransferase (COMT) inhibitor (IC50 = 14.3, 20.1 and 73.3 nM for rat liver soluble COMT, total COMT and membrane-bound COMT respectively). Increases bioavailability of L-DOPA as adjunct therapy for Parkinson’s disease. Inhibits α-synuclein aggregation in vitro and inhibits α-synuclein-induced cell death in PC-12 cells. Antioxidant. Inhibits oxidative stress-induced cell death.
Application Procedures
First dissolved in DMSO (up to 30 mg/ml) or in Ethanol (up to 3 mg/ml), then diluted to aqueous buffer. Solutions in DMSO or ethanol may be stored at -20°C for up to 1 month.
