Background
Factor XIII is A beta globulin found in plasma that recognizes reduced and nonreduced forms of human factor XIII A chain. Factor XIIIa can be used in the diagnosis of fibrous histiocytic lesions, including fibrosarcoma protuberans. It can also be used to distinguish neurofibroma (+) from neuromelanocytic nevi (-).
