Antioxidant; SIRT1 activator
Functions
Naturally occurring phenolic antioxidant. Displays antitumor and antiplatelet effects. Activates SIRT1 and increases longevity in yeast. Ameliorates ageing-related phenotypes by inhibition of cAMP phosphodiesterases. Stimulates increased expression of transthyretin which binds Aβ peptide and prevents its aggregation and toxicity. Attenuates Aβ-induced neurotoxicity by induction of autophagy. Rescues SIRT1-dependent adult stem cell decline.
Application Procedures
First dissolved in DMSO (up to 25 mg/ml) or in Ethanol (up to 20 mg/ml), then diluted to aqueous buffer. Solutions in DMSO or ethanol may be stored at -20°C for up to 1 month.
