Background
Neuron nucleus (NeuN) is a neuronal protein, which is expressed in most post-mitotic neurons of the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system, but not in retinal cells, Cajal-Retzius cells, Purkinje cells, sympathetic ganglion cells, etc. NeuN is of great value in the identification of neuron-derived tumors, and is mainly used for the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of glioneuronal tumors and neurocytomas.
