The MSE PRO™ Calcium oxide is an inorganic compound, its chemical formula is CaO, commonly known as quicklime. Physical properties are surface white powder, impure is off-white, yellowish or gray when containing impurities, hygroscopicity. Soluble in acid, insoluble in water, alcohol, ammonia. Easily reduced to metallic cobalt by carbon monoxide. Calcium oxide is alkaline oxide, sensitive to moisture. Easily absorb carbon dioxide and water from the air. Reacts with water to form calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2) and generates a lot of heat, corrosive. At high temperature, it is easy to react with silica, alumina or zinc oxide to form a variety of pigments.
