Applications
Boron is a metalloid that is very difficult to produce in very pure form. It is a brown powder and when is crystalline form it is a silvery black hard material. Boron is a poor electrical conductor at room temperature. Boron is primarily used as filaments similar to that of carbon fibers. It has also found uses in metallurgy to increase hardenability. Boron is useful as a dopant in semiconductors for p-type conductors. It is also used in neodymium magnets.
