Description
Poly-L-lysine hydrobromide is a polypeptide made of lysine and has a molecular weight of 15,000 to 30,000. It has been shown to have antimicrobial properties and has been used as an additive in animal feed. This product has been shown to be effective against leukemic mice as well as carcinoma cell lines. Poly-L-lysine hydrobromide is also known to inhibit the activity of glycol ester hydrolase, which is an enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of glycol esters. The carboxy terminal amino acid residues on this molecule are in the form of an amide bond with a protein.
