Applications

Acetylcholinesterase inhibitor

Functions

Long-acting, centrally active acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, IC50 = 410 nM. Allosteric potentiator at neuronal nicotinic ACh receptors. Prevents β-amyloid-induced apoptosis in SH-SY5Y and bovine chromaffin cells. Clinically useful agent for symptomatic relief of Alzheimer’s disease but fails to prevent progression of the disease.

Application Procedures

First dissolved in DMSO (up to 10 mg/ml) or in Water (up to 12 mg/ml), then diluted to aqueous buffer. Solutions in DMSO or distilled water may be stored at -20°C for up to 1 month.
