This Cas9 nuclease can be used with a target-specific sgRNA to bind DNA and create a double-stranded cut. It is provided in a non-viral vector (plasmid) for quick and easy transfection. Transfection will result in transient expression of Cas9, leading to reduced chances of off-target editing. The Cas9 provided in this non-viral vector is spCas9 from Streptococcus pyogenes.
