MSE PRO™ 10g Sodium Vanadium Phosphate [Na3V2(PO4)3] Cathode Material For Sodium Ion Batteries

Sodium ion battery (SIB) is a type of rechargeable battery analogous to the lithium-ion battery but using sodium ions (Na+) as the charge carriers. Sodium-ion battery can be the best alternative to lithium-ion batteries, owing to their similar electrochemistry, non-toxicity, elemental-abundance and the low-cost of sodium.

Among the various sodium ion battery cathodes, rhombohedral Na3V2(PO4)3 (NVP), a typical sodium super ionic conductor (NASICON) compound, is very popular owing to its high Na+ mobility and good structural stability.

Carbon coated Na3V2(PO4)3 electrodes show two flat plateaus at 3.4 V and 1.6 V,  respectively. The voltage plateau located at 3.4 V is relatively higher than that of other cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries. It shows a good cycling performance at high charge and discharge rate.
