Introduction

The Bettersizer S3 Plus is a combined laser diffraction and dynamic imaging particle analyzer, designed to operate with the BT-803 wet dispersion system. Its patented DLOI (Dual Lenses & Oblique Incidence) laser diffraction optical system is equipped with a 10 mW, 532 nm laser and 96 detectors, covering a scattering angle range of 0.02°–165° and featuring an auto-alignment mechanism. The dynamic imaging optical system incorporates dual-magnification cameras (0.5× and 10×) with a 120 fps imaging rate, a white LED surface source, and a blue LED point source, capable of capturing up to 10,000 particle images in 60 seconds and providing 32 particle size and shape parameters—including aspect ratio, circularity, roundness, convexity, and more. The instrument offers a particle size measurement range of 0.01–3500 μm, with testing accuracy and repeatability better than 0.5%, in compliance with ISO 13320 and USP <429>; it also provides a particle shape measurement range of 2–3500 μm, in compliance with ISO 13322. The intelligent software supports SOP workflows, editable reports, sample refractive index calculation, sample ratio calculations, and 21 CFR Part 11 compliance management.
The BT-803 automatic dispersion module has a 600 mL capacity, features circulation dispersion, adjustable stirring speed from 300 to 2500 rpm, and ultrasonic power up to 50 W. It supports fully automatic liquid intake, sample dispersion, and cleaning operations. The BT-803 includes 4 sample cells.
