5α,6α-Epoxycholesterol is a naturally occurring metabolite of cholesterol. It is a major oxysterol found in processed food and has been implicated in atherosclerosis. 5α,6α-Epoxycholesterol has been found to be an endogenous ligand for LXR (EC50 = 76 nM).
Application Procedures
First dissolved in DMSO (up to 10 mg/ml) or in Ethanol (up to 10 mg/ml), then diluted to aqueous buffer. Solutions in DMSO or ethanol may be stored at -20°C for up to 2 months.
