2020 Best Materials Engineering Graduate Programs Ranking by U.S.News (2016 - 2020)

US News & World Report published its 2020 ranking of the best graduate schools and programs in the U.S. (ranked in 2019).  Among the materials science and engineering programs, what are the changes from the 2016 to 2020 rankings? MSE Supplies (www.msesupplies.com) has compiled the ranking data from the last five years and highlighted some interesting changes of ranking spots. 
  • The top 10 schools on the list remain the same year over year.  Among the top 10 schools, University  of Illinois—Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) has advanced the most on the rankings over the last year, leaping from No. 6 to No. 3. In contract, University  of California—Berkeley moved from No. 3 to No. 6.  
  • Harvard University, moved back to No. 14 after being ranked at No. 11 last year. 
  • Colorado  School of Mines climbed up over the year from No. 30 to the current spot of No. 22. 
  • Rice  University is now ranked at No. 26 as compared to No. 33 a year ago.  
  • Among the top 50 programs, University  of Tennessee - Knoxville gained an impressive 17 spots from last year.
