Overview

VSM is a Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (abbreviated as VSM). Its primary function is to measure the magnetic properties of materials, determine the type of magnetic material, and obtain parameters such as coercivity, remanence, and saturation magnetization. It is commonly used for various ferromagnetic, ferrimagnetic, antiferromagnetic, paramagnetic, and diamagnetic materials.

VSM is generally applied in the following fields:

  1. Rare-Earth Permanent Magnetic Material Research:
    VSM can be used to measure the magnetic properties of rare-earth permanent magnetic materials, such as magnetization, coercivity, and magnetic energy product.

  2. Ferrite Material Research:
    VSM can measure the magnetic properties of ferrite materials, including magnetization, hysteresis loops, and demagnetization curves.

  3. Amorphous and Quasicrystalline Material Research:
    VSM can be used to measure the magnetic properties of amorphous and quasicrystalline materials, such as magnetization, hysteresis loops, and demagnetization curves.

  4. Superconducting Material Research:
    VSM can measure the magnetic properties of superconducting materials, such as magnetization, hysteresis loops, and demagnetization curves.

  5. Magnetic Research of Alloys, Compounds, and Biological Proteins:
    VSM can measure the intrinsic magnetic properties of various substances, such as magnetization, Curie temperature, and coercivity.

  6. Measurement of Magnetic Powders, Particles, Sheets, and Bulk Materials:
    VSM can be used to measure the magnetic properties of magnetic materials in different forms, including magnetization, hysteresis loops, and demagnetization curves.

Sample Requirements

  • Powder samples should be at least 10 mg;
  • Bulk samples should be between 1×1×1 mm³ and less than 3×3×3 mm³;
  • Liquid samples are more difficult to measure, so please provide at least 50 μL.

Testing Conditions for Standard Hysteresis Loops:

  • Magnetite (Fe₃O₄), ferrites, Fe, Co, and their composites are suitable for 2T (2 Tesla) testing.
  • Room temperature.
  • Magnetic field within ±2 T.
  • Default data points: 120–150.

Note: The listed price is for reference only. Please request a quote for the final pricing.

Analytical Service Minimum order requirement: $250 per order. A $200 handling fee will be applied if order is below $250.

Please contact sales@msesupplies.com for additional information and instructions on our Analytical Services program. Confirmation of the sample(s) requirements, SDS sheets and additional information is needed prior to processing the Analytical Service order.
