Science Published a Paper on Next-gen Batteries with Hydride-ion Conduction

Posted by MSE Supplies on

Science just published a new research article about transporting the hydrogen anion Hydrogen cation (H+) transport is common in both biological systems and engineered ones such as fuel cells. In contrast, the transport of hydrogen anions (H−) is far less common and is usually coupled with or compromised by the parallel transport of electrons. Kobayashi et al. examined the transport of H− in a series of rare-earth lithium oxyhydrides (see the Perspective by Yamaguchi). They prevented electronic conduction by using Li+ as a countercation. In an electrochemical cell, the oxyhydride material acted as a solid-state electrolyte for H−, which suggests an...

DOE Li Battery Funding Opportunity: The Integration and Optimization of Novel Ion Conducting Solids (IONICS) program

Posted by MSE Supplies on

The Integration and Optimization of Novel Ion Conducting Solids (IONICS) program seeks to enable transformational electrochemical cells by creating components built with solid ion conductors that have a wide range of desirable properties including low ionic area-specific resistance (ASR), high chemical and electrochemical stability, high selectivity, good mechanical properties, etc. through innovative approaches to overcome tradeoffs among coupled properties. It also seeks to develop and apply methods for processing of solid ion conductors and their integration into electrochemical devices. Components built with solid ion conductors, especially separators, have the potential to serve as enabling platforms, as demonstrated by the wide...

What Will Future Smart and Connected Cars Look Like with GaN Technology

Posted by MSE Supplies on

GaN technology is disruptive, in the best sense of the word, making possible what was once thought to be impossible – eGaN® technology is 10 times faster, significantly smaller, and with higher performance at costs comparable to silicon-based MOSFETs. The inevitability of GaN displacing the aging power MOSFET is becoming clearer with domination of most existing applications and enabling new ones. www.msesupplies.com is a leading supplier of free standing GaN single crystal and GaN Template on Sapphire. Order yours today!  This posting highlights the contribution GaN technology is making to several automobile applications – the increasingly complex infotainment system, all important...
