Applications

β-SiC or the 3C polymorph SiC is used as an abrasive and can be sintered together to form very hard ceramic materials. The SiC ceramics are used in applications that require extreme endurance under high temperature and pressure. SiC ceramics have even been implemented in bulletproof vests (ceramic armors).
